Cellulite - 90% Have It! 100% Want It Gone!
Did you know cellulite affects over 90% of women regardless of their age or weight? Cellulite is often described as the dimpling of skin or lumpy substance that forms on specific areas of the body. Cellulite is usually found on the thighs, buttocks and stomach. An assemblage of fat cells causes the skin to dimple, thereby making it appear lumpy. No matter how cellulite is described or where it’s found on the body, one thing is certain--- no one wants it!
In treating this unwanted condition affecting billions of women, it is important to understand the cause. Cellulite is caused mainly by a drainage problem and strangled fat. In women, fat cells are arranged a bit differently because women carry more fat and less lean muscle mass than men. In the past decade, there has been extensive research to clarify the possible causes of this enemy to the female species, and many researchers agree on the following points:
• Adipose cells (fat cells) swell due to fat storage. • Capillary walls become excessively permeable causing localized accumulation of fluid. • Inadequate lymphatic drainage slows the removal of excess fluid. • Adipose cells cluster and are bound by collagen fibers, which further impedes blood flow. • Connective tissue strands stiffen, pulling down on their anchor points, giving cellulite its form.
Changes in blood flow, lymphatic drainage, fat, and connective tissue result in poor circulation and poor elimination of waste; this results in the increased swelling of adipose cells. When fats, fluids and toxins are trapped deep in the skin (below the epidermal layer in the subcutaneous layer), the connective tissue thickens and hardens. All of these factors work together to create a dimpling effect, leading to the unsightly bumpy, orange peel or cottage cheese appearance of the skin.
In contrast, when all of these systems are working well, they remove the waste products and smooth curves result. This concept of strangled fat is essential as you consider the following treatments now available to help your patients who are fed up with cellulite.
How many treatments are required? Generally, patients require eight to ten treatments. However, active people who are already at their optimal weight but have problem areas such as “love handles” or “saddlebags” may require fewer, whereas overweight individuals may require more.
Can I go back to work after the treatment? Yes. The procedure generally takes 30 minutes or less and requires no preparation or recovery time. Furthermore, no heavy bandages or girdles are used.
Are the treatments painful? The majority of patients experience minimal discomfort with mesotherapy. For those with lower pain thresholds, a numbing cream can be used.
How long do the benefits last? Treatment areas will remain free of unwanted fat as long as the patient maintains their weight with a healthy diet and exercise. Maintenance treatments will help to keep areas sculpted and cellulite free.
How many treatments are required before I see results? It depends on the patient’s sensitivity to the PC or PPC (Phosphatidylcholine) and Mesotherapy ingredients. Some patients see results after one treatment session while others may require four to five treatments to begin to see results. Often the patient’s clothing will become looser and friends and family will tell the patient they appear thinner.
Will I lose inches/weight? Mesotherapy and Lipodissolve for fat reduction is more about losing inches and sculpting than losing large amounts of weight. People with large amounts of weight to lose are not the best candidates for the procedure.
What are the advantages of Lipodissolve? Lipodissolve is the perfect option for those who do not want to undergo surgery. The procedure will sculpt specific areas of the body like the stomach area, upper arms, thighs, chin, hips and etc.
Is the fat removal permanent? Phosphatidylcholine will lyse the fat cell, allowing the fat to be eliminated from the cell. Studies show that some of these cells are necrosed through the treatment and some are removed from the body via urine and feces. However, with weight gain new fat can reappear. A balanced diet as well as exercise is recommended to expedite fat metabolism. Anti-inflammatories are contraindicated while the patient is undergoing their sessions.
